Mohamed Salah has left England and begun his journey back to Türkiye as he prepares to rejoin Trabzonspor after completing his duties with the Egyptian national team.
The Trabzonspor forward was part of Egypt’s squad during the current international break, but his schedule with the Pharaohs was changed following an agreement with coach Hossam Hassan.
Turkish network 61saat reported that Salah had departed England for Türkiye and is expected to join Trabzonspor’s training under German coach Thomas Reiss.
Salah’s international programme was reduced after it was agreed that he would not take part in Egypt’s friendly against South Africa on 4 October.
The decision was made to give the player additional rest and reduce the physical demands on him following the number of matches he has played recently.
The Trabzonspor player was also absent from Egypt’s match against South Sudan, which was played on an artificial turf pitch.
His absence from that game marked the end of his involvement with the national team during the current international break and allowed him to begin preparations for his return to club football.
After his Egypt commitments came to an end, Salah spent some time in England before setting off for Türkiye.
The 34-year-old is expected to arrive in Trabzon and resume training with Trabzonspor under the management of Thomas Reiss.
His early return is intended to give him time to work with his club before competitive football resumes following the international break.
Salah is expected to be back in Trabzon before Egypt’s friendly against South Africa, allowing him to begin preparations for the matches that await Trabzonspor once the international break is over.
The Turkish side are preparing for an away meeting with Samsunspor, which is scheduled to take place after the international break.
Salah’s return to club training will therefore give him the opportunity to prepare with his team-mates ahead of the fixture.
His decision to leave the Egypt camp early came after the agreement with Hassan over his involvement during the international break, with the South Africa friendly excluded from his programme.
The player has now completed his international commitments and is returning to Trabzonspor as the club prepares for the resumption of its league campaign.
For Salah, the immediate focus will be on returning to full training and working under Reiss before Trabzonspor travel to face Samsunspor.
