The Women’s U20 World Cup reaches its 10th edition this year, with Korea DPR holding the record for the most titles after winning the previous two tournaments.
Korea DPR’s latest triumphs have taken its total to four. The country won the inaugural competition in 2008, returned to the top in 2016 and then retained the trophy in the two most recent editions.
The tournament began in 2008 as a biennial event before moving to an annual schedule. Asian teams dominated the early years, with Korea DPR and Korea Republic taking turns as champions.
France and Spain are the only winners from outside Asia. France claimed the title once, while Spain have won the competition twice.

Korea DPR’s four championships place them ahead of Spain, who have won two titles. Korea Republic, France and Japan have each been crowned once.
The record also highlights Spain’s consistency in the competition. As well as their two victories, they have finished runners-up three times and taken third place on three occasions.
Japan have reached the final twice, winning once and finishing second once. Korea Republic’s title came in a final against Japan, while France’s success was followed by Korea DPR finishing as runners-up.
Across the editions listed, the United States have been runners-up once and finished third twice. Germany, Ghana, Italy, New Zealand, Brazil and the Netherlands have each recorded one third-place finish, while Mexico and Colombia have each finished runners-up once.
