Former Ghana international Albert Adomah has expressed strong confidence in the future of Antoine Semenyo, describing the forward as a key figure for the national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Adomah’s comments come as Ghana prepares for its fifth appearance at the global tournament, where the Ghana national football team have been drawn in a challenging group alongside England national football team, Croatia national football team and Panama national football team.
The former winger, who represented Ghana at international level, highlighted Semenyo’s recent performances as evidence of a player on a steady rise. “Antoine Semenyo has a bright future with the Black Stars,” Adomah said, underlining his belief that the forward will play an increasingly important role for the team.
Ghana will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama on 17 June, before facing England on 23 June and concluding their group-stage matches against Croatia on 27 June. The tournament presents a significant test for the Black Stars, who will rely on emerging talents as well as experienced players.
Adomah urged Semenyo to maintain his current form, pointing to the forward’s development as a positive sign for Ghana’s attacking prospects. “Antoine Semenyo has done extremely well to get to where he is at the moment and by Gods grace he will carry on doing well,” he said.
“He is still got bright future ahead of him with the Black Stars and hopefully with Manchester City. I will urge him to keep on doing what hes been doing. Hes on great form and hopefully he takes that form to the World Cup with Ghana.”
Semenyo’s progress has been viewed as one of the more encouraging developments for Ghana in recent years. Known for his direct approach, energy, and ability to challenge defenders, he has increasingly become a valuable option in the national team’s attacking setup.
Since making his debut in 2022, the forward has scored three goals in 34 appearances for Ghana. While those numbers may appear modest, his influence on the pitch has extended beyond goals, with his work rate and versatility earning recognition.
As preparations continue for the World Cup, Semenyo, who plays his club football for Manchester City, is expected to contribute significantly to shaping Ghana’s attacking identity.
With a demanding group stage ahead, Ghana will look to players like Semenyo to provide momentum and creativity. Adomah’s endorsement adds to the growing belief that the forward could play a decisive role as the Black Stars aim to make an impact on football’s biggest stage.
