Pyramids FC have confirmed that defender Osama Galal suffered a hamstring injury during their Egyptian Premier League fixture against Zamalek SC, with the club’s medical department now awaiting further examination results to determine the full extent of the problem.
The incident occurred at Cairo Stadium during the third round of the second phase of the Egyptian Premier League, in a match that was finely poised and goalless at the time of the injury.
Galal went down in the 15th minute of the first half without any challenge from an opposition player. The defender immediately signalled discomfort, prompting concern from teammates and officials on the pitch.
Mustafa Al-Muniri, head of the medical team at Pyramids FC, later provided an update on the initial diagnosis, confirming that the injury is believed to be muscular in nature.
Al-Muniri explained that Osama Jalal, the team’s defender, suffered a hamstring injury and that the player will undergo medical examinations and scans in the coming hours to determine the severity of the injury and the duration of treatment.
Following the medical assessment on the pitch, Pyramids’ medical staff made the decision to withdraw the player as a precaution. He was subsequently escorted off the field to receive further attention.
The defender’s place was taken by Mahmoud Marei, who was introduced in the 15th minute as Pyramids were forced into an early reshuffle in their defensive line.
The injury represents an early setback for Pyramids in what was a tightly contested match, with neither side able to break the deadlock at the time of the incident. The goalless scoreline reflected a cautious opening phase, which was interrupted by Galal’s forced departure.
Further updates on the player’s condition are expected once the results of medical scans are available. These will determine whether the injury is a minor strain or something more serious, as well as the expected recovery timeline.
For Pyramids, the immediate concern will be the availability of one of their key defensive figures as the league campaign progresses through its decisive stages. The club is now awaiting clarity on the diagnosis before making any decisions regarding rehabilitation or return-to-play planning.
The situation leaves Pyramids managing both the match and a developing injury concern, with Galal’s condition now a key focus for the medical staff in the hours following the fixture.
