Juventus have contacted Newcastle United to ask about the conditions of a possible loan deal for Germany striker Nick Woltemade, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 24-year-old is being considered by the Turin club as one of the options to replace Jonathan David. Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee is also among the alternatives being assessed by the Italian side.
Representatives of Juventus, known as the “Old Lady”, have already approached Newcastle United for information about Woltemade’s availability and the terms of a potential temporary move, Romano reports.
However, Juventus would only be able to cover part of the forward’s salary, which could prove significant in determining whether a deal is possible. The initial contact is therefore focused on the financial conditions surrounding a loan rather than a permanent transfer.
Woltemade joined Newcastle United from Stuttgart last summer in a move worth 75m euros. Since arriving at the English club, he has made 53 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists.
The German forward’s current market value is estimated at 55m euros by Transfermarkt, meaning a permanent agreement would represent a substantial financial commitment for Juventus. A loan arrangement would give the Turin club a way to explore the possibility of signing the player while limiting the immediate cost of the move.
Woltemade’s name has emerged alongside that of Joshua Zirkzee as Juventus consider their options in attack. Jonathan David is the player for whom the club is seeking a replacement, with the Newcastle United striker now part of that wider shortlist.
Newcastle United paid Stuttgart 75m euros for Woltemade last summer, and his performances have since included 11 goals and six assists in 53 matches. Those figures, together with his 55m-euro valuation, place the forward among the more expensive options being considered by Juventus.
The approach to Newcastle United concerns the conditions of a loan and includes discussion of how the player’s wages would be divided. Juventus can meet only part of Woltemade’s salary, according to the report.
Any possible move would therefore depend on whether Newcastle United were willing to accept those financial terms. At this stage, Juventus have requested information from the “Magpies” while continuing to consider other attacking options, including Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee.
