Cittadella have signed Italy-Ghana centre-forward Davis Mensah from Mantova on a free transfer.
The 35-year-old joins the Serie C – A club after leaving Mantova, who play in Serie B. His move was completed on 30 August 2026, marking a return to Italy’s third tier after his previous club’s rise to the second level.
Mensah has spent the past four years with Mantova, having joined from Pordenone in August 2022. He was part of a career that included recognition as an Italian third-tier champion with Mantova in the 2023-24 season.
The forward began his senior career with Sandra before moving to Virtus Verona in 2011. He then spent four seasons with the club before joining Triestina in 2017, followed by a free transfer to Pordenone in 2021.
Mensah is listed as a centre-forward and is right-footed. Born in Bussolengo, Italy, he holds Italian and Ghanaian nationality. He is 1.86m tall and brings experience from spells across Italy’s professional divisions to Cittadella’s attack.
His arrival comes as Cittadella begin the 2026-27 campaign in Serie C – A. Mensah had not made an appearance for Mantova in the current season before the switch, while Cittadella have added him to their squad following the completion of the deal.
Mensah’s previous move to Mantova came after his departure from Pordenone, where he had arrived as a free agent from Triestina. His latest transfer is also without a fee, with Cittadella securing his services after his time at Mantova came to an end.
The move continues a career spent entirely in the Italian game, taking Mensah from Sandra and Virtus Verona through Triestina and Pordenone before his spell with Mantova. He now moves to Cittadella as an experienced attacking option for their Serie C campaign.
