Jose Mourinho said it was important for Real Madrid to leave their matches feeling like “one collective” after his side began the season with a 4-0 victory over Malaga in the third round of La Liga.
The Madrid club scored three times in the first half to secure a convincing win. The result leaves Real Madrid top of the league table with nine points from their opening three matches.
Mourinho’s comments focused on the importance of togetherness within the squad following the emphatic performance. For the Real Madrid manager, the feeling players take from a match is significant, alongside the result itself.
“It is important to go home with the feeling that we are one collective,” Mourinho said.
Real Madrid’s victory over Malaga was their latest success in the competition and maintained their perfect start. They established a commanding advantage before half-time by scoring three goals, then completed a 4-0 win.
The result placed Real Madrid at the summit of the La Liga standings on nine points. Their position at the top comes after three rounds of matches, with Mourinho’s side having collected the maximum available points.
Malaga were beaten without scoring, while Real Madrid’s attacking display ensured the outcome was settled comfortably. Three of the four goals came during the opening half, giving the Madrid side a strong platform for the remainder of the match.
Mourinho’s assessment therefore went beyond the scoreline. His response highlighted the importance of the team maintaining a shared identity and leaving the stadium with a collective sense of achievement.
Real Madrid will play their next match away from home on 4 September, when they travel to face Real Betis. That fixture will provide their next opportunity to build on the Malaga result and continue their run at the top of the table.
For now, the 4-0 victory has given Real Madrid nine points from three matches and preserved their leading position in La Liga. The performance also provided the setting for Mourinho to underline the value he places on unity among his players.
The manager’s central message was that success should be accompanied by the sense that the squad has operated together. After a match in which Real Madrid scored four times and three goals came before the interval, Mourinho made that collective feeling the principal theme of his comments.
