Arsenal are prepared to sell Gabriel Jesus, with the Brazil forward’s services having been offered to Atletico de Madrid and initial discussions already taking place, according to journalist Matteo Moretto.
Jesus’ contract with the London club expires next summer, and Arsenal are understood to be willing to consider a transfer before then. The possible fee is estimated at between 18m and 20m euros.
The proposed move to Atletico de Madrid would not be connected in any way with a possible transfer in the opposite direction involving Julian Alvarez. Any discussions over Jesus would therefore be treated as a separate matter from the future of the Argentina forward.
There is no indication that a deal has been agreed, with the information at this stage referring to an approach and preliminary conversations between the relevant parties. However, Atletico de Madrid have now emerged as a potential destination for the 29-year-old.
Jesus has also recently been linked with Napoli, Everton, Ipswich Town and Besiktas. Those clubs have been mentioned as possible interested parties, although the latest report focuses on Atletico de Madrid and the initial talks surrounding a potential move to the Spanish club.
The forward’s estimated market value is 17m euros, according to Transfermarkt. That figure is below the potential transfer fee of 18m to 20m euros being discussed for a move away from Arsenal.
Jesus joined Arsenal’s attacking options after moving to the club from Manchester City, but his current contract situation means the London side face a decision over whether to sell him before he reaches the final year of his agreement or retain him until next summer.
For now, the report indicates that Arsenal are open to a sale and that Atletico de Madrid have been presented with the opportunity to sign the Brazil international. The first discussions have taken place, but further negotiations would be required before any transfer could be completed.
