Andreas Hountondji, the Benin-French forward at Burnley, is being linked with a move to FC Schalke 04.
The 24-year-old centre-forward has not played in Burnley’s Championship or EFL Cup campaign so far this season, with the proposed move emerging on 21 August.
Hountondji joined Burnley from French club SM Caen in July 2024 for a reported €4m fee. He subsequently spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Standard Liege before moving to German club St Pauli for the 2025-26 campaign.
That loan ended on 30 June, returning Hountondji to Burnley, where he remains under contract until June 2028. His current market value is listed at €3m.
A move to Schalke would represent a return to Germany after his spell at St Pauli, although any transfer remains at the rumour stage. Hountondji was born in Montry, France, and holds Beninese and French nationality.
He began his senior career with Caen and had earlier loan spells at Quevilly Rouen, US Orleans and Rodez before establishing himself at the French club. His immediate status is unchanged: he is a Burnley player with two years remaining on his contract.
