Barcelona eye Guinean forward Guirassy with Lewandowski nearing career end

FC Barcelona have renewed their interest in signing Guinea international striker Serhou Guirassy, as the club looks to strengthen its attacking options ahead of a potential transition in the forward line.

Reports indicate that the Catalan side have made initial contact regarding the Borussia Dortmund forward, who has been in impressive form this season.

According to Fichajes, Barcelona remain keen on securing Guirassy’s services, although they face significant competition from several top European clubs.

Among those also interested in the 30-year-old striker are Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, and Manchester United, all of whom are reportedly monitoring his situation closely.

Guirassy’s performances this season have attracted widespread attention.

He has scored 12 goals in the Bundesliga, added four in the UEFA Champions League, and contributed one more in the German Cup.

His consistent goal-scoring form has positioned him as one of the most sought-after forwards currently playing in Europe.

Barcelona’s interest is also influenced by the long-term future of their current leading striker, Robert Lewandowski.

At 37 years old, Lewandowski is considered to be in the latter stages of his career, prompting discussions within the club about a suitable successor.

Head coach Hansi Flick is reported to have identified Guirassy as a potential replacement, proposing the Dortmund forward as the club’s next number nine.

The move would signal a forward-looking strategy aimed at maintaining Barcelona’s attacking strength in the coming seasons.

Despite the transfer speculation, Barcelona’s current campaign remains on track.

The club are currently top of La Liga and four points clear ahead of second-placed Real Madrid.

Attention is also turning to their European commitments, as Barcelona prepare for a crucial second-leg encounter against Newcastle United at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The tie remains finely balanced following a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the round of 16.

While no formal agreement has been reached regarding Guirassy, Barcelona’s renewed interest highlights their intent to reinforce their squad and plan for the future.

However, with multiple elite clubs in pursuit, securing the striker’s signature is expected to be highly competitive.
