Mali midfielder Mamadou Sangare has bid an emotional farewell to Racing Club de Lens after completing his departure from the French club ahead of a move to Premier League side Brentford.
The 23-year-old announced his exit in a heartfelt message on his X account, bringing an end to a one-season spell with Lens after joining from Austrian side Rapid Vienna last year.
Despite his brief stay in northern France, Sangare said the experience had left a lasting impact on both his career and personal life.
“There are adventures that mark a career, and others that mark a life. Even if this chapter lasted only one season, it will remain forever engraved in my heart,” Sangare wrote.
The Mali international reflected on the memories and experiences he shared during his time with the Sang et Or, describing the season as an important chapter despite its short duration.
Although he did not elaborate on the challenges he encountered, Sangare made it clear that his year at Lens had been a significant period in his development.
“Today, it is time for me to write a new page. I am leaving with a great deal of pride, gratitude and memories for life,” he added.
Sangare is now set to begin a new chapter in England with Brentford, where he will have the opportunity to experience Premier League football for the first time.
The move represents another important step in the midfielder’s career as he looks to build on the progress made during spells with Rapid Vienna and Lens while adapting to the demands of English football.
His departure concludes a short but memorable stint with Lens, with the midfielder leaving the club expressing gratitude for the opportunity and optimism about the next stage of his journey.
Brentford will now provide Sangare with a fresh challenge as he seeks to establish himself in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
