Vietnam-Nigeria striker Samson Olaleye has joined Becamex HCMC from PVF-CAND on a free transfer, adding a 37-year-old centre-forward with extensive experience in Vietnamese football to the club’s squad.
Olaleye’s move was completed on 1 August 2026 after one season with PVF-CAND. He joined that club from Quang Nam FC in August 2025, also on a free transfer, and now continues his career with Becamex HCMC.
Born in Kaduna, Nigeria, Olaleye holds Vietnamese and Nigerian nationality. He stands 1.82m tall and is predominantly right-footed. His career has been closely associated with Vietnam, where he has established himself as a prolific forward across several top-flight campaigns.
The striker has made 178 appearances in V.League 1, scoring 69 goals and providing 15 assists. He has also scored three goals in 12 AFC Cup appearances, while his record includes two goals in six Vietnam Cup matches and two goals in six AFC Champions League qualifying appearances.
Olaleye was named V.League 1’s top scorer in consecutive seasons. He scored 14 goals during the 2012-13 campaign and followed that with 23 goals in 2013-14. His performances for Dong Thap FC also earned him the Vietnamese club’s Best Foreign Player award in 2010.
His honours include two Vietnamese league titles, won with Hanoi T&T FC in 2015-16 and Ha Noi FC in 2018-19. He also helped Ha Noi FC win the Vietnamese Super Cup in the 2018-19 season and claimed a Thai league title with Buriram United in 2017-18.
The move to Becamex HCMC adds another chapter to a career that has included spells with Quang Ninh FC, Dong Thap FC, Hanoi T&T FC, Ha Noi FC, Thanh Hoa FC, HCMC FC, Quang Nam FC and PVF-CAND. He also spent time in Portugal with Braga and in Spain with Atletico Madrid’s reserve side during the 2011-12 season.
Olaleye completed his free transfer from PVF-CAND to Becamex HCMC on 1 August 2026.
