Eintracht Frankfurt are expected to part ways with Algerian midfielder Fares Chaibi this summer, as mounting interest from clubs across Europe places the 23-year-old at the centre of a potential high-value transfer.
German media reports indicate that the Bundesliga side have made a strategic decision to sell the player at the end of the season, aiming to capitalise financially on one of the most sought-after names in the upcoming transfer window.
Chaibi, who joined Frankfurt from Toulouse FC in 2023, is currently in his third campaign with the club. After experiencing fluctuations in form during his early period in Germany, the attacking midfielder has rediscovered consistency this season. He has featured in 31 matches across all competitions, contributing three goals and nine assists.
Renewed form attracts attention across Europe
The Algerian international’s improved performances have not gone unnoticed. According to reports from German outlet Kicker, Chaibi is among the leading candidates to leave Frankfurt this summer, with the club keen to maximise returns amid widespread interest.
Clubs linked with the player include VfB Stuttgart, Como 1907 and Olympique Lyonnais. Among them, Italian side Como—managed by former Spain international Cesc Fabregas—are reported to be the most determined suitors.
Italian sources suggest that Fabregas is particularly impressed by Chaibi’s versatility, with the Algerian capable of operating across multiple midfield and attacking roles. This adaptability is seen as well-suited to Como’s attacking philosophy under the Spanish coach.
However, any potential move to Como may depend on the club securing qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League, a condition that could significantly influence negotiations.
Financial strategy driving Frankfurt’s decision
Frankfurt’s willingness to sell appears rooted in financial planning. Despite Chaibi’s current market valuation being estimated at around €15 million, the German club are reportedly targeting a fee between €35 million and €40 million.
This valuation reflects not only the player’s recent performances but also the level of competition among interested clubs. With Chaibi under contract until 2028, Frankfurt are in a strong negotiating position and are under no immediate pressure to sell below their asking price.
Long-term value still a consideration
While a summer departure appears increasingly likely, Frankfurt are also mindful of the player’s long-term potential. The club are believed to be factoring in the prospect of Chaibi representing Algeria at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a platform that could further elevate both his sporting and commercial value.
For now, the situation remains fluid, but all indications suggest that Chaibi’s future lies away from Frankfurt, with several European clubs poised to compete for his signature in what could become one of the summer’s more closely watched transfer stories.
