Midfielder Lucas Torreira has described his Galatasaray team-mate Victor Osimhen as one of the best players in world football, placing him alongside two high-profile Real Madrid stars; Mbappe and Valverde.
Speaking to MK News Turkey, Torreira named Osimhen among his top three players globally, alongside Kylian Mbappé and Federico Valverde. His selection notably excluded several widely recognised names, including Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, Lamine Yamal and Vinicius Junior.
“Federico Valverde, Kylian Mbappé, and Victor Osimhen are currently the world’s best footballers,” Torreira told MK News Turkey.
The endorsement comes during a strong campaign for Osimhen, who has been instrumental in Galatasaray’s domestic success so far this season. The Nigerian forward has scored 19 goals and provided seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, helping the club maintain their position at the top of the Turkish Super Lig standings.
Osimhen’s performances have drawn increasing attention, both for his consistency in front of goal and his overall influence in attack. His contributions have been a key factor in Galatasaray’s push for silverware, with the team enjoying a productive run in the league.
Torreira’s comments reflect a growing recognition of Osimhen’s impact, particularly within his own squad. While players such as Kane and Haaland continue to dominate headlines across Europe’s top leagues, the midfielder’s selection suggests that performances in Turkey have not gone unnoticed among peers.
However, Osimhen’s season has not been without challenges. The striker recently underwent surgery following an arm injury sustained during Galatasaray’s Champions League exit to Liverpool.
His inclusion in a shortlist featuring Mbappé and Valverde, both key figures at Real Madrid, places him firmly among elite company.
As Galatasaray continue their domestic campaign, attention will remain on whether Osimhen can maintain his form once he returns to full fitness. For now, his performances have earned him not only statistical recognition but also the admiration of his team-mates, with Torreira’s comments adding to the growing chorus of praise.
