Tottenham are prepared to consider bids for midfielder Pape Matar Sarr after the Senegal international was left out of the club’s pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand, with several clubs already exploring a possible move.
Sarr, 23, did not travel with the Spurs squad despite coming off a campaign in which he delivered encouraging individual performances in an inconsistent team. His exclusion has intensified speculation about his future, particularly as his limited involvement at the World Cup had suggested he would be immediately available for club duty.
According to the Daily Mail, head coach Roberto De Zerbi is open to a sale if Tottenham are able to recruit a replacement with a similar profile. The club are yet to enter formal negotiations, but their willingness to listen to offers has alerted a number of potential suitors.
Premier League clubs make early moves
Four clubs have already made initial enquiries over Sarr’s situation, although talks remain at a preliminary stage.
Brentford are among the most active, with the west London side seeking a replacement for Jordan Henderson following his move to Chelsea, journalist Paul O Keefe reports. The prospect of joining Brentford is understood to appeal to Sarr, who is keen on continuing his career in the English capital.
Aston Villa are also monitoring developments closely, having tracked the midfielder for some time. The Midlands club remain interested but are yet to advance discussions.
In addition, there have been early signs of interest from Turkey, adding further options for Sarr as he weighs up the next step in his career. The player is described as open-minded about a change of club, provided any proposal is backed by a convincing sporting project.
Long-term deal at Spurs
Sarr is under contract at Tottenham until June 2030, placing the north London side in a strong position in any negotiations over a fee. The midfielder, born in Thiaroye, is currently valued at €30m by Transfermarkt.
Last season he made 37 appearances in all competitions for Spurs, scoring two goals and providing four assists. In England, he earns an annual salary of €4,254,114, equivalent to 2,765,174,100 CFA francs.
For now, Sarr remains a Tottenham player, but his omission from the pre-season tour, combined with De Zerbi’s stance and growing interest from England and abroad, suggests a pivotal summer lies ahead for the Senegal international.
