Herve Koffi, the Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast-born goalkeeper currently at Lens, is being linked with a move to Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise in the Jupiler Pro League. The 29-year-old is under contract with the Ligue 1 club until 30 June 2028, so any deal would require Union SG to negotiate a transfer fee rather than targeting a free move.
Koffi’s market value is currently listed at €6 million, a figure that underlines the scale of investment Union SG would need to make if they decide to formalise their interest. Lens only secured him on a permanent basis in July 2024 from R Charleroi SC for €2.5 million, and they have since brought him back from a season-long loan at Angers, which ended this summer.
A switch to Union SG would mark a return to familiar surroundings for Koffi after his successful spell in Belgium with Charleroi, where his performances helped elevate his status and market valuation. His time in France has included spells with Lille and Mouscron, as well as his more recent loan at Angers, underlining his experience across Ligue 1 and the Belgian top flight.
Born in Bobo-Dioulasso on 16 October 1996, the 1.86m, right-footed keeper has built a solid reputation at club and international level, which has now attracted renewed interest from Belgium’s leading sides. For the moment, though, Koffi remains a Lens player, tied to the club for another two seasons beyond this one, leaving Union SG with a potentially complex negotiation if they choose to push ahead.
