Algeria international Youcef Belaili, currently without a club after leaving Esperance Tunis this summer, is being linked with a return to MC Algiers in Ligue 1. The 34-year-old left winger, who has a listed market value of around €1.2 million, is understood to be open to another spell with the Algiers side as he considers his next move.
Belaili only rejoined Esperance from MC Algiers in July 2024, when the Tunisian giants paid a reported €679,000 fee to bring him back for a third stint at the club. He has since added further silverware in Tunisia, including the 2024-25 league title and domestic cup, before his contract came to an end at the start of July.
A switch back to MC Algiers would reunite Belaili with the club where he was a key figure in their 2023-24 campaign, helping them to the Algerian championship and finishing that season as the league’s top scorer with 14 goals. His previous spell in Europe with AC Ajaccio in France preceded his move to Algiers in 2023.
The Oran-born winger has enjoyed a decorated career at club and international level, winning the Africa Cup of Nations with Algeria in 2019 and lifting the CAF Champions League twice with Esperance. His performances across North Africa and the Gulf, including prolific spells in domestic leagues and continental competition, have sustained his reputation well into his 30s.
Belaili has been a free agent since 1 July, leaving him free to negotiate directly with MC Algiers as the Algerian champions explore the possibility of bringing him back for a third spell.
