Hamburg have signed Morocco-born French midfielder Bilal Nadir from Marseille on a free transfer. The 22-year-old central midfielder has agreed a contract with the Bundesliga club until 30 June 2030.
Nadir, a left-footed central midfielder, switches to Germany after leaving the Ligue 1 side at the end of his deal. His move comes with an estimated market value of around €8m, underlining Hamburg’s decision to secure him without a transfer fee.
Born in Nice in November 2003, Nadir came through the academy system at OGC Nice before moving to Marseille’s B team in 2021. He stepped up to the first-team squad in 2023, earning a promotion from the reserves ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.
The midfielder, who stands at 1.79m, holds both Moroccan and French nationality and will wear the number 4 shirt at his new club. His switch gives Hamburg another option in the centre of the pitch as they prepare for the new Bundesliga season.
Nadir’s move to Hamburg is the fourth transfer of his career, following spells with Nice’s youth teams and Marseille at senior and reserve level. The deal confirms his first permanent move outside France and ties him to the German club through to 2030.
