CR Belouizdad have progressed to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup after a goalless draw against Al Masry in the second leg of their quarter-final tie.
The Algerian side advanced on the away goals rule following a 1-1 draw in the first leg, securing their place in the final four despite failing to score in the return fixture.
The match began at a high tempo, with both teams showing intent from the opening stages. Belouizdad looked particularly threatening in the first half, creating several clear opportunities as they sought to take control of the tie.
Benayada came close in the 23rd minute with a powerful effort, while Hammouda forced a strong save from Al Masry goalkeeper Tharwat just five minutes later. Captain Benguit also had an opportunity to break the deadlock, narrowly missing the target after a well-worked attacking move.
Al Masry responded with chances of their own, demonstrating their ability to counter effectively. A dangerous cutback from Deghmoum in the 34th minute was intercepted by goalkeeper Chaal, ensuring the scores remained level at the break.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with both sides continuing to push forward but lacking the finishing touch in front of goal. Belouizdad maintained attacking pressure through Hammouda, Benguit and Benayada, but were unable to convert their chances into a decisive goal.
Al Masry also looked to find a breakthrough, introducing El Saaiy in the 71st minute in an attempt to add fresh impetus. The Egyptian side created moments of danger, but could not find a way past a disciplined Belouizdad defence.
As the match progressed, the Algerian side showed resilience and composure, managing the game effectively to preserve the goalless scoreline that would see them through.
Their defensive organisation proved crucial, as they successfully neutralised Al Masry’s attacking efforts while maintaining enough control to avoid conceding.
With the aggregate score level, Belouizdad’s away goal from the first leg ultimately proved decisive, allowing them to advance to the semi-finals.
The result highlights their ability to navigate tightly contested knockout matches, combining defensive solidity with tactical discipline. They will now turn their attention to the next stage of the competition, aiming to build on this progress as they continue their continental campaign.
