Zamalek Sporting Club have expressed their gratitude to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi following what the club described as a decisive intervention that resolved a long-standing crisis involving its planned branch in Sixth of October City.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, the club’s board of directors said it welcomed the resolution of the dispute and the allocation of a new plot of land intended for the development of a future branch. The announcement marks a significant development in a file that had remained unresolved for several years.
The statement, issued under the leadership of board chairman Hussein Labib, conveyed appreciation on behalf of the club’s general assembly, as well as its wider fan base.
Presidential directive credited for unlocking solution
According to the club, the breakthrough followed directives from the presidency that contributed to resolving the land issue and enabling the allocation of a suitable site for the new branch.
Zamalek’s leadership described the outcome as one that aligns with long-standing ambitions for the club’s expansion and development plans, particularly in relation to its infrastructure in Sixth of October City.
The board also extended thanks to a range of state institutions involved in the process, highlighting coordinated efforts that helped move discussions forward and identify workable alternatives.
Government institutions praised for coordination
In its statement, Zamalek acknowledged the role played by several key government bodies, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and the Youth and Sports Committee of the House of Representatives.
The club said collaboration between these institutions was central to evaluating options and reaching what it described as an optimal solution that serves the public interest while also securing a more sustainable future for Zamalek.
Investment and development potential highlighted
Beyond resolving the immediate dispute, the club emphasised the long-term significance of the newly allocated land. It described the site as having strategic value and a strong location that could provide substantial investment and economic returns.
Zamalek said its technical and economic studies indicate that the project has the potential to generate higher returns than previous arrangements, with the aim of maximising the use of available assets and increasing added value for members and supporters.
The board added that the development is expected to strengthen the club’s financial sustainability and support its long-term operations.
Broader social role of sports institutions
The statement also framed the decision within a wider national context, describing it as reflective of the state’s recognition of sports clubs as important social and developmental institutions.
According to Zamalek, such institutions play a role in shaping young people, strengthening social cohesion, and providing sporting, cultural and community services for citizens.
Commitment to deliver project on schedule
Zamalek’s board concluded by affirming its commitment to complete the planned project to the highest possible standards and within agreed timelines.
The club said it would dedicate maximum effort to ensuring the development meets expectations and enhances Zamalek’s position as one of the most prominent sporting institutions in Egypt and the wider region.
The statement ended with a prayer for Egypt, its people, and its leadership, expressing hope for continued progress and prosperity.
