Cameroonian striker Karl Etta Eyong is reportedly determined to keep alive his ambition of one day signing for FC Barcelona, despite growing interest from other clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old forward, who currently plays for Levante UD, is understood to have supported Barcelona since childhood and continues to view a move to the Catalan giants as the ultimate objective of his career.
Reports suggest the striker remains willing to wait for a possible opportunity at Camp Nou rather than commit immediately to alternative offers elsewhere.
Eyong enjoyed an impressive start to the season, quickly emerging as one of Levante’s most exciting attacking players. The Cameroonian scored six goals in his opening ten appearances, attracting attention with his pace, movement and finishing ability.
His strong early performances increased speculation surrounding his future and generated interest from clubs monitoring young attacking talents across Europe.
However, the second half of the campaign proved more difficult for the striker. His productivity in front of goal declined significantly, with Eyong managing only one additional goal during the remainder of the season.
Despite that dip in form, his long-term ambitions reportedly remain unchanged.
One of the clearest signs of his determination came with reports that he rejected a lucrative contract proposal from Russian club CSKA Moscow worth around six million euros.
The decision is said to reflect Eyong’s desire to prioritise sporting development and future opportunities over immediate financial reward.
According to reports, the striker is particularly focused on the possibility of Barcelona reshaping their attacking options in the near future, especially with uncertainty surrounding the future of veteran forward Robert Lewandowski.
Eyong is reportedly prepared to accept a secondary role initially under Barcelona coach Hansi Flick if it allows him to become part of the club’s long-term project.
The Cameroonian forward is also said to be heavily inspired by former Barcelona and Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o, one of the most successful African players in the club’s history.
Eyong reportedly views Eto’o’s achievements at Barcelona as a major source of motivation as he attempts to build his own career at the highest level.
For now, his immediate future remains uncertain, with no indication that Barcelona are preparing a formal move.
Nevertheless, the striker’s ambition appears clear as he continues to hold onto the possibility of eventually wearing the Barcelona shirt.
Whether that opportunity arrives soon may depend heavily on his ability to rediscover the form that made him one of Levante’s standout young players earlier in the season.
