Villarreal linked with SV Elversberg striker David Mokwa

French-Cameroonian striker David Mokwa is being linked with a move from German club SV Elversberg to Spanish side Villarreal.

The 22-year-old centre-forward has played eight Bundesliga matches for Elversberg this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist. He has started 88% of the club’s league games and played 79% of the available minutes.

Mokwa joined Elversberg from Hoffenheim on 3 January 2026 in a deal reported to be worth €1.5m. His current market value is listed at €7m, while the reported interest from Villarreal would represent a move from the Bundesliga to LaLiga.

He began his senior career with Hoffenheim II after joining the club’s under-19 side from French team Sochaux in 2022. Mokwa helped Hoffenheim II win the German Regionalliga Southwest title in the 2024-25 season before moving into Hoffenheim’s first-team setup.

The forward has also made two appearances in the DFB-Pokal this campaign, although he has not started either of those matches.

There is no indication that a transfer has been agreed, and the strength of Villarreal’s interest has not been established. Mokwa remains under contract with SV Elversberg until 30 June 2029.
