Moroccan forward Yassir Zabiri has reportedly attracted interest from Barcelona following an impressive start to the season with Racing Santander in Spain.
According to Spanish publication Fichajes, Barcelona sporting director Deco is monitoring the 21-year-old after his scoring performances in La Liga caught the attention of the Catalan club.
Zabiri has reportedly scored eight goals in his first 10 league appearances for Racing, where he is playing on loan from French side Stade Rennais until June 2027.
His age, goalscoring ability and adaptation to Spanish football are understood to have made him an attractive prospect as Barcelona consider options to strengthen their attacking department.
Zabiri makes impression in Spain
The Moroccan forward recently scored against Espanyol to help Racing secure a 2-1 victory, ending a difficult run of results.
He also found the net against Barcelona at Spotify Camp Nou, although Racing suffered a 7-2 defeat in that encounter.
The goal was particularly special for Zabiri, who has previously spoken about his admiration for Barcelona and his childhood dream of playing at the club’s stadium.
His performances have continued to raise his profile in Spanish football, with the forward emerging as one of the promising young attacking talents attracting attention.
Transfer complications for Barcelona
Despite the reported interest, Barcelona could face obstacles if they decide to pursue a deal.
Racing Santander’s loan agreement runs until June 30, 2027, without an option to make the transfer permanent, while Zabiri remains under contract with Rennes until 2029.
His reported market valuation of around €20 million and a release clause said to exceed that figure could also influence negotiations.
Any potential move would therefore require discussions with Rennes, who retain control over the player’s contractual future.
For now, Barcelona’s interest remains at the reported monitoring stage, with no formal offer or agreement confirmed.
Zabiri’s immediate focus will be on maintaining his scoring form at Racing Santander as he continues to build his reputation in Spanish football.
