Abdihakim Ali: AIK midfielder linked with MLS move to New York

Swedish-Somali midfielder Abdihakim Ali has been linked with a move from AIK to New York in Major League Soccer.

Ali, 24, plays as a central midfielder and is currently contracted to AIK, who compete in Sweden’s Allsvenskan. The reported interest was recorded on 30 October 2026, with New York identified as the potential destination.

No agreement has been confirmed and the terms of any proposed transfer have not been established. The rumour also does not indicate whether discussions have progressed beyond initial interest.

Ali’s contract with AIK is due to expire on 31 December 2026, meaning the timing of any move would be significant. A transfer completed before the end of the year would require an agreement between the clubs, while a move after the contract expires could allow Ali to leave as a free agent.

The reported link would represent a potential switch from Swedish domestic football to MLS for the midfielder. Ali is valued at €400,000, although that figure does not establish a transfer fee or indicate that negotiations have taken place.

For now, Ali remains an AIK player, with his contract running until the end of 2026.
