Queiroz described the defeat as a “terrible” result and expressed his disappointment with the outcome.
“There is not much to say today after the terrible result for us. I, the staff, all the players, we are deeply sad with the result,” Queiroz said at the post-match press conference.
“And we have to say sorry to our fans, to our supporters, for what happened in the stadium.”
The Portuguese coach also asked supporters to direct their criticism towards him rather than the players, insisting that the squad should continue to receive their backing.
“If there is one person who takes the responsibility for the result, it’s me,” he said.

The defeat represents a major setback for Ghana after they were unable to protect a two-goal advantage against a Gambia side that fought back strongly in the closing stages.
Queiroz, however, maintained that Ghana remain capable of qualifying for the 2027 AFCON despite the disappointing start to their campaign.
