2026 World Cup: Fans warned over travel and ticket costs for Morocco vs Canada tie

The Round of 16 clash of Morocco against Canada at the 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to draw significant attention and heavy demand for tickets, with prices rising sharply ahead of the match in Houston, Texas.

The fixture will take place at NRG Stadium on July 4 at 12:00 local time, with Moroccan supporters following the game at 6:00 p.m. GMT+1. In Canada, fans in cities such as Toronto and Montreal will see kickoff at 1:00 p.m. local time.

The match date coincides with United States Independence Day, a factor expected to increase crowds in Houston and place additional pressure on transport and security arrangements around the stadium.

Organisers, according to information relayed by Lebrief, are anticipating large numbers of supporters from both the Moroccan and Canadian diaspora communities across North America.

That expected turnout has contributed to heightened demand for tickets, with availability becoming increasingly limited.

Remaining seats are being sold through official outlets and authorised resale platforms, with entry prices starting at more than $900.

Premium seats are reportedly exceeding $1,500, reflecting the strong interest in what is one of the tournament’s knockout fixtures.

Authorities have urged fans to use only verified ticket channels to avoid fraud, particularly as stadium entry will rely entirely on electronic verification systems.

Organisers have also stressed the importance of planning travel arrangements in advance due to expected congestion on match day.

NRG Stadium will open its gates three hours before kick-off. Its retractable roof is expected to provide relief from the high temperatures typically experienced in Texas during the summer months.

For supporters travelling to the venue, public transport is recommended.

Those planning to drive are required to secure parking passes in advance, as on-the-day cash payments will not be accepted at parking facilities.

Once inside the stadium, strict regulations will be enforced. Only transparent bags that meet approved size requirements, or small personal pouches, will be permitted. Security officials are expected to carry out enhanced checks in line with tournament protocols.

In addition, all transactions within the stadium will be cashless. Food, drinks and merchandise will only be available through electronic payment methods, with organisers encouraging fans to prepare accordingly before arrival.
