Zamalek are considering former goalkeeping coach Emad El-Mandouh for a return to the club as part of the backroom staff for the new season, with club officials yet to make a final decision on the position ahead of the start of pre-season preparations.
A source at the club said El-Mandouh is one of the leading candidates to become goalkeeping coach in the coaching team of first-team head coach Moataz Gamal.
The appointment is expected to be finalised in the coming period as Zamalek continue to shape their technical staff before preparations for the new campaign gather pace.
According to the source, the club’s board of directors is currently evaluating more than one option before confirming the appointment.
Former Zamalek and Egypt goalkeeping coach Ayman Taher has also been nominated for the role, leaving the club’s hierarchy to choose between the two experienced candidates.
The search for a goalkeeping coach forms part of Zamalek’s broader preparations for the new season, with the coaching staff working to complete its structure before players return to full training.
The decision comes as the club prepares to launch its pre-season programme next week, with the technical staff eager to have all coaching positions filled before the first training sessions begin.
