Zamalek football director Abdel Nasser Mohamed says the club’s players have remained united despite the series of crises surrounding the team, insisting their focus remains on serving the Egyptian club and its supporters.
Mohamed said the squad had developed greater cohesion and resilience while dealing with the difficulties affecting Zamalek, with players motivated by their attachment to the club and their respect for its fans.
He also praised the influence of the team’s senior players, saying their leadership had been important during a difficult period.
“The senior team leaders are playing a great role, and it is fortunate for the club to have these players in the team.”
The football director’s comments come as Zamalek continue to deal with financial difficulties and scrutiny surrounding several issues involving the squad.
Mohamed said the players had not allowed the pressure to undermine their commitment, while also highlighting their appreciation of the work being done by technical director Moataz Gamal and his coaching staff.
Zamalek players urged to remain united
Mohamed said the club’s players had strong reasons to continue working hard despite the problems facing Zamalek.
He pointed to their love for the club and their relationship with its supporters as key sources of motivation, while also stressing the importance of the players’ respect for Gamal and his assistants.
The football director was also critical of the volume of what he described as false reports and slander directed at members of the squad.
“We will certainly not respond to the amount of false news and huge slander that the team’s stars are subjected to, and it will never affect us, as we are all united, and we will not be fodder to be directed according to the visions of some.”
Mohamed added that the club’s administration was working to address its financial problems and said there were efforts under way to resolve those issues in the near future.
The financial situation remains one of the challenges Zamalek are attempting to manage, but Mohamed’s comments suggest the club believes maintaining unity within the squad is essential.
Fatouh set to return to full training
Mohamed also provided an update on defender Ahmed Fatouh, explaining the difficulties the player has experienced during the recent period.
Fatouh had continued to play despite not being fully ready before becoming unwell. He then suffered a toe injury which made it difficult for him to wear a football boot.
“Fatouh participated in the matches while he was not ready, then he suffered a severe cold, and after that he injured his toe badly, and it was impossible for him to wear a shoe, and he will participate today in training with his full energy.”
The comments indicate that Fatouh was expected to return to full-intensity training as Zamalek continue their preparations.
Fatouh has also been at the centre of attention because of comments he made in the media, with the issue prompting discussion around his position at the club.
However, Mohamed played down the controversy and said there was no intention to make the matter bigger than it was.
He stressed that Fatouh’s performances for Zamalek and the national team had contributed to the attention surrounding him, particularly as his contract approaches its end.
Club says Fatouh matter will be handled internally
Mohamed defended Fatouh’s character while explaining that Zamalek would deal with incidents involving the player through its internal regulations.
The football director described Fatouh as someone who treats people kindly and acts spontaneously and in good faith.
“Ahmed Fattouh deals with everyone with great kindness, spontaneity, and good faith. If he had bad intentions, the matter could have been handled in other ways. We certainly deal internally, and according to our regulations, with all events and interactions to prevent their recurrence, and this is our internal affair.”
The comments suggest Zamalek intend to keep the issue within the club rather than allow the controversy to dominate attention around the team.
With financial problems also being addressed by the administration, Mohamed’s message was one of unity as Zamalek attempt to navigate the challenges surrounding the club.
For Fatouh, the immediate focus is his return to training, while his future remains a significant point of interest as his contract moves towards its end.
