Burkina Faso right-back Issa Kabore has joined Wrexham from Manchester City in a €2.35m permanent transfer.
The 25-year-old defender moves to the Welsh club, who play in the Championship, after spending the 2025-26 season on loan at Wrexham. That temporary spell ended on 30 June, with Kabore returning to Manchester City before completing his permanent switch on 27 August.
Kabore primarily operates at right-back and is naturally right-footed. Born in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, he stands 1.80m tall and has represented his country at international level, winning the award for Burkina Faso’s best young player in 2021.
His move to Wrexham brings an end to a series of loan spells since joining Manchester City. The defender spent the 2024-25 campaign away from the Premier League club, first with Benfica and then Werder Bremen. During his time at Benfica, he was part of the squad that won the Portuguese league cup.
Kabore also had loan spells with Luton, Marseille, Troyes and KV Mechelen. He originally joined Manchester City from KV Mechelen in July 2020 for €4.5m, before returning to the Belgian club on loan shortly afterwards.
The full-back was involved in Manchester City’s English Super Cup-winning campaign in 2024-25. He did not make an appearance in the Premier League or Community Shield during the opening fixtures of the 2026-27 season before leaving the club.
Wrexham’s agreement represents a significant change in Kabore’s status after six years as a Manchester City player, during which he spent much of his time developing through temporary moves. His arrival gives the Championship side a defender with experience in England, France, Germany, Portugal and Belgium.
Kabore’s Manchester City contract was due to run until 30 June 2027, but he has now left the club a year before its scheduled expiry to join Wrexham.
The transfer was completed on 27 August 2026, with Kabore becoming a Wrexham player for €2.35m.
