Usain Bolt has become engaged to his longtime partner Kasi Bennett after proposing during celebrations for his 40th birthday.
The Olympic sprinting legend revealed the news on social media by sharing a series of photographs of the couple, accompanied by the caption: “A Million Moments led us to here.”
The proposal marked a dramatic new chapter in a relationship that has lasted more than a decade. It also appears to have caught Bennett by surprise, despite her involvement in organising the birthday celebrations.
Posts shared online before the event suggested Bennett had been helping to arrange Bolt’s milestone party. Unknown to her, the man whose birthday she was helping to celebrate had prepared a major surprise of his own.
Judging by Bennett’s reaction, Bolt’s engagement proposal provided the defining moment of the celebrations.
The couple have built a family together away from athletics. Their first child, daughter Olympia Lightning, was born in May 2020.
In June 2021, Bennett and Bolt became parents to twin boys, Thunder and Saint Leo.
The engagement means the pair are now moving towards marriage after more than 10 years together and raising three children.
Bolt’s 40th birthday was already a significant milestone for one of the most successful athletes in sporting history. The Jamaican established himself as a global icon through his dominance of the 100m and 200m, winning eight Olympic gold medals and setting world records that remain among the most famous achievements in athletics.
However, the biggest celebration of his birthday appears to have taken place away from the track.
Bolt and Bennett are now officially engaged, with the former sprinter turning his landmark birthday into an occasion neither of them will forget.
Bolt’s career made him one of the most recognisable figures in world sport. His Olympic success and record-breaking performances defined an era of sprinting, but the proposal adds a personal landmark to a day that was already dedicated to celebrating his achievements.
For Bennett, who had been helping to arrange the festivities, the party became an unexpected celebration of her own. The engagement ring transformed Bolt’s birthday event into the latest milestone in their long-running relationship.
The couple’s three children are Olympia Lightning, born in 2020, and twins Thunder and Saint Leo, born the following year.
