South African centre-forward Tshegofatso Mabasa, currently a free agent after leaving Orlando Pirates, is being linked with a move to Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids FC.
Mabasa, 29, is available without a club after his contract in South Africa came to an end this summer, and Pyramids are understood to be exploring a deal as they look to strengthen their attacking options. The forward is valued at around €1.3 million, but any agreement would come in the form of a free transfer, potentially giving the Cairo club room to be competitive on wages and bonuses.
The Botshabelo-born striker has built a strong reputation in the South African top flight, scoring 53 goals in 184 Premiership appearances. His record in knockout competitions is also notable, with nine goals in 18 Nedbank Cup games, underlining his impact in high-stakes fixtures.
Mabasa heads into this window on the back of a successful 2025-26 campaign in which he helped Orlando Pirates secure the South African league title, adding to a growing honours list that also includes multiple MTN8 triumphs and a Nedbank Cup win. His experience in continental competition, with appearances in both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, is thought to be attractive to a Pyramids side aiming to consolidate their status among Africa’s regular challengers.
For now, Mabasa remains unattached as discussions continue over his next move, with Pyramids FC emerging as one of the leading potential destinations for the free agent striker.
