Toulouse bring in Mathis Amougou on loan until 2027

Toulouse FC have completed the loan signing of Cameroon midfielder Mathis Amougou, who will remain with the Ligue 1 club until 30 June 2027.

The move gives the young midfielder an opportunity to continue his development in a different environment after making his first appearance in France’s top flight with Strasbourg. Amougou joined Strasbourg from Chelsea on 12 July 2025 and will now change clubs without leaving Ligue 1.

Toulouse believe the temporary transfer can provide Amougou with the regular playing time needed to make further progress at the highest level. The 2025-26 campaign represented his first experience of the demands of the French top division, and the switch to the Violets offers him another chance to establish himself in senior football.

Amougou made 12 Ligue 1 appearances for Strasbourg last season. His involvement was limited, but those matches allowed him to gain valuable experience of the pace, physical demands and competitive nature of the championship.

His current market value is estimated at 9m euros by Transfermarkt.

The midfielder began his development at US Torcy and has been regarded as one of the young players attracting attention because of his potential. At Toulouse, he will now look to take the next step in his career and gradually secure a regular role in midfield.

His arrival is intended to strengthen Toulouse’s options in the centre of the pitch while giving Amougou the opportunity to build on the qualities he has shown since beginning his career in French football. The loan spell could prove important as he seeks to turn early promise into greater consistency and a more prominent position at Ligue 1 level.

Toulouse’s next assignment comes soon, when they face Lille in the third round of the French championship. The match will provide the club with its next competitive test as Amougou begins life with his new team.

Betting company 1xBet lists Toulouse at 3.30 to win the fixture, with a draw also priced at 3.30. Lille are rated at 2.00 to claim victory.

Amougou’s move means he will continue his career in France after arriving from Chelsea and following his initial Ligue 1 experience with Strasbourg. His loan at Toulouse is scheduled to run through 30 June 2027, giving both the player and the club an extended period in which to assess his progress and contribution.
