Irish-Nigerian defender Shadrach Ogie has joined Woking on a free transfer from Gillingham, signing a contract with the National League side until 30 June 2028. The 24-year-old centre-back, who prefers to operate on the left side of defence, arrives after leaving the League Two club at the end of his deal.
Born in Limerick and standing at 1.85m, Ogie brings significant experience from the English Football League to the Surrey outfit. He has amassed 128 League Two appearances, adding a further 37 games in the National League earlier in his career, as well as outings in the EFL Cup, EFL Trophy and FA Cup.
Ogie’s move reunites him with a division he knows well, having already featured extensively at National League level before establishing himself higher up the pyramid. Over his senior career he has scored three competitive goals and contributed four assists across all competitions, underlining his consistency rather than attacking output from the back.
The defender also arrives with a league winners’ medal, having been part of the Leyton Orient squad that secured the League Two title in the 2022-23 season. His current market value is listed at around €200,000, underlining the value of the free transfer for Woking as they strengthen their defensive options.
Ogie is now contracted to Woking through to the summer of 2028 following his permanent switch from Gillingham.
