Senegal international Krépin Diatta has emerged as a transfer target for French club Olympique de Marseille after becoming a free agent following his departure from AS Monaco.
The 27-year-old winger is currently considering his options after ending a five-year spell with Monaco, with clubs from England and Germany also monitoring his situation.
Diatta officially became available on the transfer market after his contract with Monaco expired on 30 June. Marseille have made contact with the player’s representatives to explore the possibility of bringing him to the club, although no formal agreement has been reached.
The Senegalese forward’s availability has made him one of the more attractive free-agent options this summer, with his experience, versatility and international pedigree increasing his appeal.
Diatta joined Monaco from Belgian side Club Brugge in January 2021 and went on to make 143 appearances for the French club, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists.
During his time at the Stade Louis II, the Dakar-born player became valued for his energy, defensive contribution and ability to operate in several attacking positions.
At international level, Diatta has been an important figure for Senegal, earning 64 caps for the national team. He has featured in major competitions with the Teranga Lions, including the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States, where he played in four matches.
After leaving Monaco, Diatta has been training in Senegal while waiting for the right opportunity. The player is understood to be keen on joining a project that matches his ambitions and is not looking to make a rushed decision over his next destination.
Marseille’s interest comes as the club assess possible additions to strengthen their squad, with Diatta’s experience in European competitions seen as a potential advantage.
The Senegalese winger has played 19 UEFA Champions League matches and 14 Europa League games during his career.
However, Marseille face competition for his signature. German club Schalke 04 have reportedly placed Diatta on their shortlist, while English sides Ipswich and Everton are also said to be interested in securing his services.
