Senegal international Bara Sapoko Ndiaye has signed his first professional contract with Bayern Munich, committing the 18-year-old to the German champions until June 2031.
The agreement follows a loan spell that began in the winter, when Ndiaye moved to Munich from Gambinos Stars Africa, a football academy based in Gambia.
The young Senegalese player made four competitive appearances for Bayern’s first team during the second half of the season, performances that were enough to convince the German club to make his move permanent.
Ndiaye’s progress gives him the opportunity to continue his development at one of Europe’s most prominent clubs and places him within manager Vincent Kompany’s plans.
For the teenager, the contract represents a major personal milestone after his journey through academy football in West Africa.
“This is a great day for me and for my whole family. I want to learn every day alongside all these great players at FC Bayern and try to help the team.
“It’s a dream come true for me, I’m very happy and I also want to serve as an example to other young players, like my teammates at Gambinos Stars, to show them that it is possible to join one of the biggest clubs in the world ,” Ndiaye said on Monday.
Ndiaye’s route to Bayern has also highlighted the growing links between youth football in West Africa and major European clubs.
He was developed at Gambinos Stars Africa in Gambia, an academy that has worked with Red&Gold Football since 2023.
Red&Gold Football is a joint venture between Bayern Munich and Los Angeles Football Club.
That connection has provided a pathway for young players from the region to gain exposure to the structures of elite European football.
Ndiaye became one of the latest beneficiaries of that pathway after earning his move to Munich during the winter.
Rather than simply remaining with the club on loan, he made an immediate impression when given opportunities with Bayern’s senior side.
Four competitive appearances in the second half of the season helped strengthen his case for a permanent agreement.
Bayern have now rewarded that progress with a contract running through 30 June 2031.
The deal means Ndiaye can continue his development within the Bayern system while learning alongside established players at the club.
His emergence is also significant for Senegal, where the teenager is already part of the national-team setup.
At 18, he now has the chance to develop his game at a club competing at the highest level of European football.
The move is another example of the role African academies can play in developing young players before they make the transition to elite European football.
For Bayern, meanwhile, the decision to secure Ndiaye’s future reflects the impression he made during his short period with the first team.
