Samy Frioui: Algerian striker joins Hidd SCC on free transfer from Al-Muharraq

Algerian centre-forward Samy Frioui has joined Bahraini side Hidd SCC on a free transfer from league champions Al-Muharraq.

The 34-year-old, who moved across Bahrain on 20 July 2026, switches clubs after helping Al-Muharraq secure the domestic title in the 2026 campaign. His move keeps him in Bahraini football, where he has collected multiple honours in recent seasons.

Frioui arrives at Hidd SCC with a reputation as a proven scorer from his time in Algeria’s top flight, where he registered 57 goals and 11 assists in 131 Ligue 1 appearances, averaging a goal every 163 minutes. His performances in Algeria also earned him a run in the CAF Champions League, in which he scored three times in 10 matches.

The Kouba-born forward first made his name with USM Alger, winning the Algerian championship in 2013-14 before spells with several domestic sides and a stint in Greece with AE Larisa. A free transfer back to MC Alger in 2019 preceded his move to the Gulf region.

Since arriving in Bahrain in 2022, Frioui has collected the Bahraini Supercup with Al-Khaldiya FC and later completed a domestic double of league and King’s Cup honours with Al-Muharraq in the 2025-26 season. He was also the top scorer in Algeria’s Ligue 1 in 2021-22 with a 17-goal haul.

Standing at 1.80m and operating through the middle in attack, Frioui now begins the latest chapter of his career with Hidd SCC following the completion of his free transfer from Al-Muharraq.
