Qarabag show interest in Gornik Zabrze winger Taofeek Ismaheel

Nigerian winger Taofeek Ismaheel has been linked with a move from Gornik Zabrze to Azerbaijan club Qarabag.

The 26-year-old left winger is under contract with Gornik until 30 June 2027, meaning any transfer would require an agreement between the Polish club and Qarabag. The reported interest would take Ismaheel from Poland’s Ekstraklasa to Azerbaijan’s Premyer Liqa.

Ismaheel has made six appearances for Gornik across domestic and European competition so far this season, including two appearances in Ekstraklasa and two in Europa League qualifying. He also featured in Champions League qualifying and the Polish Super Cup, but has not recorded a goal or assist.

He joined Gornik from French club FC Lorient in July 2024 for a reported €360,000. The winger spent last season on loan at Lech Poznan, helping the club win the Polish championship, before returning to Gornik at the end of June.

Ismaheel began his senior career in Norway with Skeid and Fredrikstad before moving to Lorient, and also had loan spells with Valerenga and SK Beveren. His career has included football in Nigeria, Norway, France, Belgium and Poland.

The reported Qarabag interest comes with Ismaheel having two years remaining on his Gornik contract. No transfer fee or agreement has been reported.
