PSV Eindhoven are considering a move for Morocco international Azzedine Ounahi as they continue to assess possible additions to their squad.
Ounahi, who plays for Girona, is among the midfielders being monitored by the Dutch club, according to our information. His name has also been linked with Ajax earlier this summer, but PSV’s interest has not yet developed into a concrete offer or formal approach.
Reports in the Spanish media on Tuesday claimed that PSV had identified Ounahi as a potential target. The 24-year-old’s availability is now being considered alongside that of Quinten Timber, who had previously been on Eindhoven’s list of possible recruits.
However, PSV’s midfield remains crowded despite the departure of Joey Veerman. That existing competition for places could make it difficult for the club to move forward with a deal for Ounahi, unless further changes are made to the squad before the transfer window closes.
Timber is also permitted to leave Olympique de Marseille and has attracted interest from FC Porto, who are managed by Francesco Farioli. The former Feyenoord player is now being considered by the Portuguese club, meaning his future is another situation PSV must weigh up as they review their options.
For the moment, PSV’s main transfer priorities lie further forward. The club want to sign another striker and have identified Sam Lammers of FC Twente as a player of interest. That potential move was reported by VI last Tuesday.
The Dutch champions are also expected to consider adding a winger. Couhaib Driouech completed his transfer to Celta Vigo on Tuesday, leaving PSV with one fewer option in that position.
There is also uncertainty surrounding Esmir Bajrakterovic. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international could leave PSV before the transfer window closes next week, which would increase the club’s need for another wide player.
Ounahi therefore remains one of several names under consideration rather than an imminent signing. PSV are still assessing the balance of their midfield while focusing their immediate recruitment efforts on strengthening the attack and potentially replacing departures on the wings.
