Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to make an improved offer for Zion Suzuki, putting Juventus at risk of losing their preferred goalkeeper target unless they can secure a loan deal from the French champions.
Parma rejected PSG’s opening proposal of €28m plus a further €5m in bonuses, but the Italian club is not expected to dismiss the increased bid now being considered by the Ligue 1 champions. According to Tuttomercatoweb, citing Sky Sport, PSG are ready to offer about €35m in total, including bonuses.
Further discussions between the two clubs are expected early next week, with PSG confident they can reach an agreement for the Japan international. Suzuki has already indicated that he would be happy to move to Paris, viewing the proposed transfer as a significant step forward in his career.
The development leaves Juventus facing the possibility of missing out on a direct transfer for the goalkeeper. Suzuki had been the preferred target of Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti, but the current momentum of the negotiations points towards the player joining PSG rather than moving to Turin.
Juventus’ remaining hope would be to negotiate a temporary move after Suzuki’s transfer to Paris. The Italian club is understood to be holding on to the possibility of a straight loan, which could offer the goalkeeper a route away from PSG if he is not convinced that he would immediately have a regular role in the French side’s squad.
That scenario would allow Juventus to pursue Suzuki without competing directly with PSG for his permanent signature. However, the immediate priority for the French champions is to complete an agreement with Parma, and their willingness to raise the value of their offer has strengthened their position in the negotiations.
PSG’s proposed package would represent a substantial increase on their initial bid and is expected to trigger renewed contact with Parma at the start of next week. The club are optimistic that the improved terms will be enough to complete the move.
For Juventus, Suzuki’s likely destination in Paris does not entirely end their interest, but it changes the nature of their pursuit. Rather than signing the goalkeeper directly from Parma, their hopes now depend on PSG first completing the transfer and then considering a loan arrangement.
