Paul Wade swaps Chateauroux for RE Virton as French-Senegalese playmaker seals free move

French-Senegalese attacking midfielder Paul Wade has joined Belgian side RE Virton on a free transfer from LB Chateauroux. The 26-year-old swaps France’s National 1 for the Challenger Pro League as he makes the step across the border to continue his career in Belgium.

Wade, who operates primarily as an attacking midfielder, leaves Chateauroux after a spell in the French third tier’s Group C. His move to Virton has been completed without a transfer fee, with the Belgian club securing a player whose market value stands at around €250,000.

The switch marks Wade’s first move into Belgian football and offers him a platform in the Challenger Pro League after building his reputation in France. Eligible for both France and Senegal, he adds a versatile, creative option between midfield and attack for his new club.

Chateauroux, competing in the highly competitive National 1 structure, had been Wade’s most recent employers, with the midfielder gaining experience in a division often used as a springboard to higher levels. His decision to cross into Belgium reflects a change of environment and a new test in a different football culture.

The transfer was completed on 29 July 2026, confirming Wade’s permanent departure from Chateauroux and his move to RE Virton on a free transfer.
