Senegal centre-forward Pape Meissa Ba has joined the ranks of unattached players after leaving Polish club Widzew Lodz.
The 29-year-old’s departure was completed on 31 August 2026, ending his time with the Ekstraklasa side. No transfer fee has been recorded for the move, and Ba is now without a club.
Ba joined Widzew in September 2025 after leaving German side FC Schalke 04. His spell in Poland included a loan move to former club Red Star FC in January 2026, before he returned to Widzew at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
The Dakar-born striker did not make an appearance for Widzew during the opening six possible games of the 2026-27 Ekstraklasa season. He recorded 0% of the club’s available minutes and made no starts before his departure.
Ba began his senior career in Senegal with Sacre-Cur before moving to France, where he joined ESTAC Troyes B in 2019. He progressed to Troyes’ first team and later switched to Red Star FC in February 2021.
His most productive campaign came in the 2021-22 Championnat National season, when he scored 21 goals to finish as the competition’s leading scorer. That form preceded a move to Grenoble in July 2022, where he spent two-and-a-half seasons before joining Schalke in January 2025 for €300,000.
Ba’s move to Schalke was followed by a free transfer to Widzew later that year. He subsequently spent the first half of 2026 on loan at Red Star, the club where he had already played between 2021 and 2022, before returning to Poland.
Standing 1.86 metres tall and favouring his right foot, Ba is listed as a centre-forward. His honours include winning the French second tier with Troyes during the 2020-21 season, while his goalscoring record in France’s third tier remains the main individual distinction of his career.
Ba has now completed his departure from Widzew Lodz and is a free agent.
