Osimhen future in doubt as Al Hilal step up interest

Galatasaray have reportedly reduced their asking price for Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen to €65m as Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal consider a move for the 27-year-old.

Al Hilal have made contact with the Turkish champions to discuss the possibility of signing Osimhen, according to Turkish outlet Haberler, which cited Sky Sports.

The Saudi club’s interest comes shortly after Osimhen completed a permanent transfer to Galatasaray from Napoli following a successful loan spell with the Istanbul side.

Galatasaray are now reportedly prepared to consider selling the Nigeria international if their €65m valuation is met. However, any potential transfer would depend not only on an agreement between the two clubs but also on Osimhen deciding whether he wants to move to Saudi Arabia.

The striker would therefore have a decisive role in determining whether the proposed transfer goes ahead.

Osimhen has become an important figure at Galatasaray since initially joining the club on loan. His goals have helped establish him as one of the leading attacking players in Turkish football, and the club recently made his move from Napoli permanent.

According to the report, Al Hilal are considering changes to their squad to make room for Osimhen. The Saudi side are reportedly planning to part ways with Karim Benzema as they look to create space for another major attacking signing.

Contacts with Osimhen’s representatives are expected to increase in the coming days as Al Hilal attempt to determine whether the Nigerian forward would be willing to move to the Saudi Pro League.

Galatasaray would have to decide whether to accept the reported €65m offer if the Saudi club reaches that valuation, while Osimhen would then have to make his own decision about his future.

For Galatasaray, losing Osimhen would represent a significant change to their plans for the new season. The striker is expected to lead their attempt to win a third consecutive Turkish Super Lig title if he remains in Istanbul.

Galatasaray are currently regarded as favourites for another league triumph, with Sportingbet listing them at odds of 2.00. Fenerbahce are next at 2.75, followed by Besiktas at 7.00 and Trabzonspor at 12.00.

Osimhen’s record since joining Galatasaray helps explain his importance to the club. He has scored 59 goals in 74 appearances for the Turkish side, establishing himself as a major attacking threat.

However, Galatasaray’s domestic rivals have also strengthened their forward lines.

Trabzonspor have added Mohamed Salah to play alongside Paul Onuachu, while Fenerbahce have brought in Mason Greenwood and Romelu Lukaku as they look to improve their attacking options.

Those additions are expected to increase the competition at the top of the Turkish league, with Galatasaray hoping Osimhen will remain available to lead their title defence.

The Nigerian’s future is therefore becoming one of the major issues surrounding Galatasaray as the club weighs the financial benefits of a potential €65m sale against the sporting importance of keeping their leading striker.

Al Hilal’s interest provides Osimhen with the possibility of another move, but the final outcome remains dependent on whether the Saudi club can agree terms with Galatasaray and, crucially, persuade the player himself to relocate.

For now, Galatasaray’s reported willingness to sell at €65m means a deal is possible if Al Hilal decide to meet the valuation. The Saudi club are expected to intensify their efforts in the coming days, while Osimhen considers whether his future lies in Turkey or Saudi Arabia.
