Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush is expected to remain at the club this summer despite interest from Tottenham, with the Egypt international still highly valued at the Etihad Stadium.
Marmoush, 27, is not regarded as an undisputed starter at Manchester City, but his position within the squad remains strong. According to Mike McGrath of The Telegraph, the Egyptian is considered an important player by the club and there is little indication that City are preparing to part with him.
McGrath said on the Last Word On Spurs podcast that Tottenham admire Marmoush, with manager Roberto De Zerbi particularly impressed by the forward. However, a move to London currently appears unlikely.
Tottenham’s main focus in the transfer market is instead Savinho, who has emerged as their priority target. Discussions between Tottenham and Manchester City are understood to be centred primarily on the Brazilian rather than Marmoush.
That makes a departure for Marmoush less probable, with the forward expected to continue his career under Enzo Maresca at Manchester City. The club do not currently intend to sell a player they continue to regard as useful to the squad, even though he is not guaranteed a place in the starting XI.
Marmoush’s existing contract with Manchester City runs until June 2029, giving the club a long-term agreement with the player. His current valuation is listed at €50m following the latest update of data from Transfermarkt.
The Egypt international is also reported to earn an annual salary of €17,183,908, equivalent to 11,169,540,200 FCFA.
For now, Tottenham’s interest has not altered Manchester City’s stance. The club’s preference is to retain Marmoush, while negotiations involving the two sides are focused on Savinho. As a result, Marmoush is expected to stay at the Etihad Stadium and remain part of Maresca’s plans for the upcoming campaign.
Although Tottenham and De Zerbi admire his qualities, there is no indication that a deal for Marmoush is close. The forward’s status at Manchester City therefore remains unchanged: he may not be an automatic starter, but he is still considered valuable enough for the club to resist a summer transfer.
