Nottingham Forest have made an approach to Crystal Palace for goalkeeper Dean Henderson, according to talkSPORT.
The proposal concerns a possible transfer for the 29-year-old, who is Crystal Palace’s captain. However, the London club are not planning to sell Henderson, meaning Forest’s interest faces an immediate obstacle.
Forest head coach Oliver Glasner is keen to work with Henderson again. The pair previously worked together at Crystal Palace, and Glasner is now reported to want a reunion with the England goalkeeper at Nottingham Forest.
Henderson already has experience of playing for Forest. During the 2022-23 season, he joined the club on loan and made 20 appearances. His previous spell at the City Ground is therefore a significant part of Forest’s interest as they consider a move for a player who has already represented the club.
Despite Forest’s proposal, Crystal Palace’s current position is that Henderson is not for sale. That stance leaves no indication that an agreement has been reached between the two clubs, with the reported approach yet to result in a transfer.
Henderson’s estimated market value is €28m, according to Transfermarkt. The figure provides an indication of his current valuation, although no fee for the reported proposal has been disclosed.
The goalkeeper’s importance to Crystal Palace is also reflected in his role as club captain. Forest’s interest comes as they continue discussions with the London club over another player, with an agreement already reported for the transfer of defender Daniel Munoz.
Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal worth €25.7m for Munoz, according to earlier reports. The Colombian defender’s proposed move is separate from Forest’s approach for Henderson, but both players are currently linked with potential transfers between the two clubs.
For Henderson, the reported interest from Forest would represent a return to a club where he spent part of the 2022-23 campaign. He played 20 matches during that loan spell before subsequently becoming Crystal Palace captain.
There is no suggestion in the report that Crystal Palace have changed their position on Henderson or that the goalkeeper has left the club. Instead, the current information points to an offer from Forest being made while Palace remain unwilling to sanction the transfer.
