French-Congolese left-back Niels Nkounkou could leave Frankfurt for Ligue 1 side Nice, with the clubs linked by a reported transfer rumour.
Nkounkou, 25, is under contract with Eintracht Frankfurt until 30 June 2028. No transfer fee or agreement has been reported, and the move remains unconfirmed.
The defender has not featured for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga or DFB-Pokal this season, with both competitions having recorded one match so far. He returned to the German club at the end of June after spending the 2025-26 season on loan at Torino.
Nkounkou joined Frankfurt from Saint-Etienne in September 2023 in a deal worth €7.5m. He had moved to the French club from Everton earlier that year after a loan spell in Ligue 2 with Cardiff.
A move to Nice would take Nkounkou back to France, where he began his senior career with Marseille’s reserve side before joining Everton in 2020. He has also had loan spells with Standard Liege, Cardiff and Torino.
The player’s current market value is listed at €2.6m, but there is no indication of Nice’s valuation or whether formal negotiations have taken place. For now, Nkounkou remains a Frankfurt player with two years left on his contract.
