Mykhailo Mudryk prioritises Tottenham reunion with Roberto De Zerbi

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has given the green light to a move to Tottenham, with talks now taking place between the two clubs over a potential loan deal.

The 25-year-old is keen to work again with Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi, having previously played under the Italian during their time together at Shakhtar Donetsk. That existing relationship is understood to be central to Mudryk’s preference for a move to the north London club.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Mudryk has put discussions with Leeds and other interested clubs on hold because he wants to join Tottenham specifically.

Negotiations between Chelsea and Tottenham are currently focused on the conditions of a possible loan for the winger. Mudryk has represented Chelsea since the beginning of 2023, but his time at the club has since been interrupted by a suspension.

The Ukraine international served a ban from December 2024 until July 2025 after testing positive in a doping test. He is now the subject of talks between Chelsea and Tottenham as the clubs consider an arrangement that would allow him to continue his career elsewhere on a temporary basis.

Mudryk’s decision to favour Tottenham has narrowed his immediate focus despite interest from Leeds and other clubs. While those discussions had been under way, the winger has suspended them while he waits for progress in negotiations between Chelsea and Tottenham.

A move would also reunite him with De Zerbi, who previously worked with Mudryk at Shakhtar Donetsk. The manager’s presence has made Tottenham the player’s preferred destination, according to Romano’s information.

Chelsea and Tottenham have yet to complete an agreement, with the current discussions concerning a loan rather than a permanent transfer. Mudryk remains a Chelsea player, having joined the club at the start of 2023, but the talks could lead to a temporary switch to Tottenham.

The proposed move would give Mudryk the chance to work under a familiar coach after returning from his suspension in July 2025. For Tottenham, the negotiations represent an opportunity to sign the winger on loan, while Chelsea are discussing the terms of his possible departure with a London rival.

At this stage, Mudryk’s preference is clear: he wants to play for Tottenham under De Zerbi. The final outcome depends on whether Chelsea and Tottenham can reach an agreement over the loan, with talks continuing between the clubs.
