Moise Kean is close to completing a €40m transfer to Champions League newcomers Como after Fiorentina gave the Italy international permission to travel for his medical.
The move is expected to be finalised before the summer transfer window closes on 1 September, with reports on Monday indicating that Fiorentina have now sanctioned Kean’s departure.
Como have pursued the striker for much of the summer and have reached an agreement with Fiorentina worth €40m. The deal includes €35m in guaranteed payments, with a further €5m available in performance-related bonuses.
The club had been waiting for Fiorentina to secure a replacement before completing Kean’s transfer. That process is now nearing completion, with former Udinese striker Beto set to join Fiorentina from Everton.
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Beto’s impending arrival has allowed Fiorentina to approve Kean’s move. The 25-year-old is expected to undergo his medical with Como before the transfer deadline.
Kean’s arrival would add a high-profile Italy international to a Como side preparing for the first Champions League campaign in the club’s history. Cesc Fabregas will lead the squad during the 2026-27 season, when Como face a demanding European fixture list.
Their schedule includes an away match at Barcelona, while Paris St-Germain and Manchester United are due to visit Como.
Como have been persistent in their pursuit of Kean throughout the transfer window, and the agreement with Fiorentina represents a total commitment of up to €40m. The guaranteed €35m fee will be followed by potential bonuses worth an additional €5m if the relevant conditions are met.
Fiorentina’s decision to allow Kean to leave came after the club moved to bring in Beto as his replacement. The former Udinese forward’s transfer from Everton has therefore cleared the way for the Italy striker to complete his switch to Como.
Kean, who has represented Italy at international level, is now set to begin the next stage of his career with a club entering its first Champions League season. His medical is the next significant step before the move can be formally completed.
The transfer comes as Como prepare for a campaign featuring some of European football’s biggest clubs. Alongside their meeting with Barcelona, they will host Paris St-Germain and Manchester United during the 2026-27 Champions League season.
