Mohamed Salah’s agent opens up on Egyptian’s future after Liverpool exit

Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, with his agent confirming that no decision has yet been made where the Egypt international will play next.

The announcement brings an end to a highly successful nine-year spell at Anfield, during which Salah established himself as one of the club’s greatest players.

The 33-year-old forward revealed his decision in a video shared on social media, describing it as the beginning of his farewell to the club he joined in 2017 from Roma.

“Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell,” Salah said.

“I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.”

Shortly after the announcement, Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, confirmed there is still no clarity over the player’s next move.

“We do not know where Mohamed will play next season. This also means that no one else knows”.

Despite signing a new two-year contract with Liverpool FC in April 2025, the club has agreed to allow Salah to depart on a free transfer at the end of the current campaign.

Salah leaves behind a remarkable legacy at Liverpool, having played a central role in the club’s resurgence over the past decade. During his time at Anfield, he helped secure major honours including two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the FA Cup, two EFL Cups and the Community Shield.

Individually, Salah’s record has been equally impressive.

He has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, placing him third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt.

His contributions were particularly significant last season, when he scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists as Liverpool secured their second Premier League title.

However, his form has dipped during the current campaign, with just five league goals in 22 appearances so far.

Speculation over Salah’s future has intensified in recent months, with links to a potential move to the Saudi Pro League. Clubs in Saudi Arabia are believed to retain a strong interest in the forward, having previously seen a £150m bid from Al-Ittihad rejected in 2023.

While those links may resurface ahead of the summer transfer window, his agent’s comments suggest that no agreement is currently in place with any club.

Salah’s departure will mark the end of an era for Liverpool, with the Egyptian widely regarded as one of the most influential players in the club’s modern history.

His goalscoring consistency and decisive performances have been instrumental in returning Liverpool to the top of English and European football.
