Algeria centre-back Mohamed Amine Tougai is being linked with a move from Tunisian champions Esperance to Libyan Premier League side Al-Ahli. The 26-year-old, who plays as a right-footed centre-back and wears the No 15 shirt for Esperance, is understood to be on the radar of the Libyan club as they look to strengthen their defence ahead of the new campaign.
Tougai has been a regular presence for Esperance since joining from NA Hussein Dey in January 2020, helping the Tunis giants secure multiple domestic titles. He was part of the side that won the Tunisian league again in 2024-25 and also lifted the Tunisian Cup in the same season, underlining his role in a dominant era for the club.
In continental competition, Tougai has built significant experience in the CAF Champions League, making 54 appearances and scoring five goals for Esperance. In the 2025-26 edition of the tournament he featured in half of his team’s matches and contributed two goals, offering an additional threat at set pieces.
Born in Algiers in January 2000 and standing at 1.86m, Tougai has also tasted international success with Algeria, winning the Arab Cup in the 2020-21 season. His current market valuation is around €1.3 million.
Tougai is under contract with Esperance until 30 June 2027, meaning any move to Al-Ahli would require the Libyan club to negotiate a transfer fee with the Tunisian champions rather than target a free transfer.
