AC Milan are working to reduce the number of players who do not feature in Ruben Amorim’s plans, with Fikayo Tomori in London for talks with Fulham and a potential move for Kevin Zeroli to Sudtirol causing concern among the club’s supporters.
Milan have already reached an agreement to send Youssouf Fofana to Olympique Lyonnais on loan. The deal is worth €2m, with Olympique Lyonnais holding an option to buy the midfielder for a further €12m at the end of the season.
The next priority is finding a solution for Tomori, who risks being left out of the squad and watching the next six months from the stands if he remains at San Siro without being part of the manager’s plans.
Reports from Sportitalia, MilanNews and La Gazzetta dello Sport say the England defender is currently in London alongside his agent for meetings with Fulham. However, Tomori is understood to remain unconvinced about leaving Milan.
The 28-year-old has been reluctant to consider a move away from the Rossoneri during the past year. He still believes he can compete for his place at San Siro, meaning those involved in the negotiations will need to persuade him that a transfer is the right decision.
There is also uncertainty surrounding Warren Bondo, who is keen on returning to France and appears unwilling to accept a proposal from Sassuolo.
The former Monza midfielder’s agent is due to meet Milan officials at the club’s headquarters this afternoon to discuss the situation and determine whether progress can be made on a move.
The transfer generating the strongest reaction among Milan fans, however, is the proposed departure of youth-team talent Kevin Zeroli to Sudtirol.
Zeroli’s switch is reportedly being negotiated as a loan with an option for Sudtirol to buy him at the end of the season. Milan would retain a small percentage of any future sale, but the agreement would not include a buy-back clause.
That structure has surprised supporters because the 21-year-old has long been regarded as one of the most promising players to emerge from Milan’s academy.
Zeroli also enhanced his reputation during loan spells with Monza and Juve Stabia, making the absence of a buy-back option particularly notable. Milan would retain only a share of a future transfer fee if Sudtirol were to make the move permanent, leaving the club with limited control over the player’s subsequent career.
The developments form part of a wider effort by Milan to reshape the squad and remove players who are not expected to play a significant role this season. Fofana’s move to Olympique Lyonnais is already close to completion, while negotiations involving Tomori, Bondo and Zeroli remain unresolved.
